One of the things that repeat us most during the summer is that we should drink a lot to avoid becoming dehydrated. What we must be clear is that it is not worth drinking anything, since there are drinks that not only will not help us hydrate, but will get dehydrated much more.

These are some of the drinks we should avoid this summer if we want to stay hydrated and not put our health at risk.

Drinks with alcohol

If there is anything known about alcohol, in addition to its more than harmful effects on health, it is its ability to dehydrate. This is the culprit, among other things, of the hangover and can be our great enemy in summer. Especially on the hottest days, it is recommended that we avoid alcoholic beverages, so that we do not take risks.

Coffee in large doses and specific situations

If we are used to drinking coffee and if we do not do it in large doses, the coffee is not dehydrating – although not moisturizing – and there would be no problem. The complication comes more when we are not used to drinking coffee or do it in large doses. In these cases, it may be best not to start drinking coffee regularly in the summer and wait for less heat.

Carbonated soft drinks

When summer arrives it almost seems that we fancy drinks with gas and bubbles, because they look fresher. This is a mistake, since carbonated drinks not only do not hydrate, but you can dehydrate. The reason is that soft drinks are usually highly concentrated and more body water is needed to dilute it.

Soft drinks and sugary drinks

Not only soft drinks increase dehydration, but also those that contain sugar. And we are not referring only to soft drinks, but also to sugary waters, energy drinks or juices. This is because we consume part of our body water to metabolize these sugars.
